It absolutely is.

first cut gives the impression of something Yamashita corrected rather than animated from LO himself. While he's not credited as sakkan on the film the fact that it's the only cut in the entire scene he touched makes it likely it was originally animated by someone else (probably whomever animated the 2nd cut) and he more or less kept the timing but changed the drawings.

first three cuts are Hiroyuki Yamashita

fourth one might be him too but its a bit hard to tell

kind of shocking it was missed for that long tbh

scene has traits of Hidetsugu Ito, at the same time, Yamashita took some random cuts right before this, and had some similarities to Ito at this time, so it could be his instead.

It's too hard to see anything to say though better to keep it unknown

almost definitely LO only from Ito

last few cuts might also be a different artist entirely

I think 3D Backgrounds are one of the best advancements of this decade. They allow the animator to completely concentrate on the characters. If pulled off good (not SAO2-Style) they can really enhance a shot.

Agreed. 3D backgrounds are an incredible tool. And something this industry needed both for the sake of its animators health, and the freedom they have to go further.
