Is rotoscoping really "okay"? And how are animators able to achieve fluid animations without rotoscoping? I don't have anything against it really. I just want an answer (or two).
I think rotoscoping is fine as long as it's not overused, it's appropriate for scenes calling for complex choreography like this.

Everything is allowed as long as the end result looks good. There's no law against rotoscoping or using reference videos. Every piece of animation is uses reference enyway. It could be based on live action footage, personal observations or the work of some other animator.
