I think he done more than correcting the characters art, some of the animation like the smoke, effect and character animation seem done or heavily corrected by him.
he storyboarded the episode btw

Whoever did the smoke, it looks like it went relatively uncorrected considering Yamashita's high level of supervision in this episode. He has obviously modified some parts of the drawing, but the general shape looks pretty different from what Yamashita would draw during this period (or any tbh) imo, especially noticeable from 0:25 to 0:28. I kind of want to say Shinoda, but I also don't have much concrete evidence other than a hunch and some of the smoke shapes somewhat resembling his (?) the timing would also make some sense

Also very yummy HiroYama corrections
Shinoda isn't credited on this ep, I think you're thinking of 198

I would say Yamashita corrected the smoke a fair bit as well, it's not his textbook shapes but it doesn't look untouched either
Hi! yeah thanks for the correction i completely misread one of the names :) I still find the timing and some parts of the drawing of the smoke in this one particularly odd but I don't have a lead otherwise ig
oh probably 前田義宏 right? That's thrown me off before too but it was on a different series iirc lol

and yeah Yasuyuki Ebara is more or less the only one credited (and not already credited elsewhere) who might do ambitious effects animation at this time and I dont think this scene is his work
Yeah that's the one lol, and yeah I agree, that was also why I kinda jumped the gun on "shinoda" (funnily enough, I actually went back to check i didn't get ebara's name wrong, which in the end turned out to be kinda ironic)
