Was any of Zhang's animation even intact after supervision? Most of his cuts were heavily corrected if not completely redrawn. Still, really odd to see a random Chinese animator from a subcontract studio handle such a large action scene from the episode.

Yeah, most of it was intact.
The only cut I recall being redrawn was when Licht used his whip.

I was referring to the numerous corrections that Iwazawa and Nakatsuru likely made to Zhang's genga. Since it took two sakkans to correct his work, it was most likely pretty rough. I wasn't talking about the blu-ray changes. Sorry if I was unclear about that.

My bad... but yeah, you're right. They are all over this scene and you can still notice how rough it must've been by just looking at certain cuts.

I don't think that Jin Hao Zhang is the Zhang who did this sequence:
- Jin Hao Zhang was working for Akatsuki at this time, and Akatsuki is only listed as AD.
- Even if Akatsuki was listed for KA, Jin Hao Zhang doesn't do any AD or KA anyway (even now) and only does douga and 2nd KA. He was listed for douga in ep 17 of BC (I believe this is why he was tagged)

I believe it's actually Yi Zhang, who's from Focus Animation:
- Focus Animation is listed as KA in this episode. His first credited episode is 52 as AD, but Focus Animation usually doesn't credit KAs and only the studio name alone is credited. I believe he was working on BC as AD but also KA under Focus Animation since the beginning, without having his name credited
- He was already credited for KA in BC (unlike Jin Hao Zhang) and also did KA before
