God, those crying cuts are just insane.
God, everything from the awkwardness and the way she tries to pat his shoulder but is unable to go through with it, to the crying, is just character acting perfection.
That scene is more powerful than any explosion
Legitimately gave me goosebumps... The character acting is insane
This didn't work for me, for many reasons
Mainly because its overwhelmed with information that doesn't flow together
God bless Toshiyuki, his character acting never disappoints...

"information" would mean that the shots are cluttered, which doesn't make sense because most of these shots are singles. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean by "information"

I think by "information" he means character acting that seem to saturate the scene with too much movements. But imo I believe it works well since the girl is so conflicted with her emotions. Also It's pretty original to see a character express on a single shot instead of different angles that distract us from her face.
I think the timing is fine, but in the first crying cut the subsequent drawings are changing too much, which to me looks like the character is “wobbling” in a way it’s not supposed to. It’s most apparent in her hair. It doesn’t exactly look like it’s just moving, it’s… morphing. Kind of. Not sure how to explain it better.
i like how shes walking slightly dissoriented since she just woke up
