I can watch this all day.
Did he just animate 82 frames for 3 seconds? Fuck me.
This guy is by far the best animator ever

At 24 FPS, this four second clip could have up to 96 frames. Safe to say, then, that Nakamura animated this section on ones.

b ...but japanese animators don't know how to animate in ones and that's the reason why they always do that in 3s. A Disney animator told me that, XD.

Hmm, Idk about that. Not if Ohira has anything to say about it at least.

I imagine that when peeps say Yutapon's the best ever or the GOAT, they consciously-or-subconsciously mean that he's the most potent at artistically capturing [that which pleasures and exhilarates] - on a fundamental art level - conveying impressions and/or emotions.
In that sense, he's my favorite 2D animator. The best [chemistry with my mind and preferences].

I think they just choose not too, rather than not knowing how. They could be right though.
Japanese and European animators are always mixing up 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s and longer holds within the same scenes. The interesting thing is that they use it creatively to make movements feel a certain way.
It probably averages out to be on 3's most of the time, but I can see why an animator would want to use ones to describe a movement like this
Imagine being handed this mess (in a good way) to clean up further down the production chain

Pretty sure they just don't have the time to animate in ones all the time. That's why it's really rare to see something like this.

That is not true

Thats what I heard when I went to art school. Fun fact, I was the first animator at my Uni to introduce people to this site. I think it did wonders for people who wanted to do action stuff.
Is it me or hair just pop up on his head when he strikes the final blow lmao

Japanese KAs are just as capable of animation on 1s just as well as many other animators are. Also, what Disney animator told you that??
Does yutapon do layouts/genga on 1s a lot?

A lot in his older days, and still is now

A lot of the animating on 1s in Disney films kinda gets wasted imo because you just get used to it. I think it's way cooler when all the sudden we get something like this at the climax of a show.
Where did this myth of old Disney movies being animated on 1s even start?
