I'm curios, is there no way Ohira is involved at any point during the production of this scene and a couple others? I know he isn't credited, but this whole sequence screams his personal style. 0:53 The BG feels super Ohira, and a lot of the cinematography here with the loose, rotating backgrounds does as well. Guess we may never know :(

he is credited and even did storyboard on the movie. I would guess either he or Yuasa storyboarded this part, possibly also animated though he has confirmed parts later iirc

I meant it hasn't been confirmed that this sequence was him. I had no idea Ohira did boards for the film though!

Movie basically has 4 acts and 4 storyboarders, i assume each act had its own storyboarder and last act is Ohira.
You can see everything seeped in his sensabilities
