Y'all what's the difference between a rough and a layout?
Layout originally meant its own distinct part of the pipeline and was closer to what its name would imply: a more static and direct refinement of the storyboard. However, nowadays people tend to use it interchangeably with rough genga. This is a good read for learning what each part of the basic production pipeline is: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/feature/2016-03-16/your-ultimate-guide-to-anime-ending-credits-part-i/.99852
(Also this sorta question is generally better fit for the forum tbh)
