I see from rune Brandt bennicke's 2d layout, that this entire sequence was a mix of handrawn 2D and what seems to be after effects. Does anyone know how they were able to create such a cool water color and ink effect for the entire product even though the production materials seem much more Disney like. I hope that makes sense!

It's a more polished version of that style. Very good compositing with layers of textures
