I'm glad that the anime has insanely good animation but it seems to have come at the cost of doing away with this shows identity

Not a fan either but I rather have these ridiculous & exaggerated fights instead of what we got for years from fishman island to dressrosa

wym?
What identity? The blandness that was FI-WCI? This series truly captures Oda's wackiness and hype properly. Just see the fact that all hype moments were heightened even more thanks to the sakuga and good aesthetic.

I get what you saying, but overall the show currently looks stunning than ever, yeah some of the color design choices could be better
I don't understand. We've been asking for stuff like this ever since Fishman Island and not only do we get it, we get consistently but it's still not good enough for a lot of fans. Kind of confusing tbh.

I second that

Comments like this are a bit amusing to me considering the fact that Oda praised Wano's adaptation and its visuals several times. Does this mean the creator himself doesn't know the "identity" of the series?
Not defending the identity comment in any way and I think the aura complaints are nonsense but using Oda's (obvious PR-driven) comments is just as meaningless imo. Interpretation of art can and in many cases should be made independent of authorial intent, but especially in this case on such a minor thing, there's no reason not to gas (also most mangaka dont care at all about whatever is going on with their adaptations)

Obviously what you said is true, however I'm not even referring to Oda's official comments, but rather the second hand stories from individuals who shared them because they wanted to. Most people wouldn't even know unless you're a hardcore fan and follow those staff members.
This scene got a chansard vibe in a different way, I love it

If you've been following Oda's interviews and comments, you'll know that he values the freedom of speech in general and does give a care of PR-driven stuffs only if he really likes something. If he doesn't, he won't bother to fake praise it. Also he cares a lot about all the One Piece related stuffs. The future live-action adaptation and his participation and says in it is just a small example of that.

And yeah, the identity comments are a pure bs.
