almost 2 years agoNaotoshi Shida provided storyboards for a segment of the film, he is not involved in any of the key animation. Toei didn't 'hire' anyone specifically for this movie, the entire movie is a CG production outside of a few 2D flashbacks. They have their own dedicated 3D department, though of course used third party help like most of their 2D productions.
The movie was made with Unreal Engine 4 in its pipeline, not 5. They've been doing this since Precure - https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/spotlights/real-time-rendered-animation-matches-traditional-methods-for-quality-on-precure
