We have shows with character acting this good every year (mainly produced at CLW too), even akebi chan which aired this season was arguably more consistent than bisque doll. Perplexing statement.

Yes, I understand that Akebi did a very impressive job on his character animation, but I can't comment because I've avoided seeing the clips uploaded here so far, I was waiting for the show to end to watch it in full, which finally happened on the day of today

My point is that we have shows with character animation to this level or better every year, if you were worried about the future of japanese animation for the (lack of?) character animation then there's not much need to fret when this show isn't one of a kind. There are still quite a bit of avenues for character animation to flourish, although it feels like certain studios are heading towards a monopoly on talent in this area comparative to years ago.
