I have to say, I'm not much of a fan of this flashing screen way they decided to portray Todou's ability. It's beautifully animated, but I liked the opening portrayal much more, it was less visually stimulating, in the sense of being a little distracting. I'ts well used, and very pretty, but I'ld preffer a more subtle approach
Would the weird slowness of this cut be a problem with the storyboard? His cut in 13 felt more weighty because everything happened a lot faster.
not the storyboard imo, just looks like rushed TNK, which makes sense considering over 2 minutes long and he directed an episode recently
His cuts in #13 weren't really a lot faster than this.
Love me some TNK, but the first half of this clip is...pretty awkward for him.

His cuts in #13 were more fluid though. Maybe it comes down to the number of in-betweens used.
Yeah overall this lacks a bit of intensity, which is a shame because dear god the way Kutsuna made the boogie-woogie in the opening was phenomenal.

1:08 is dope af tho.
Will they redo a lot of this cut? The running and punching at the beginning looks incredibly flat.
adding artist_unknown for the excessive amount of 2nd KA. It's entirely his rough layout but a lot of drawings throughout the scene which weren't finished by Tanaka
I’m glad Geth added artist unknown....

0:00 ~ 1:12: Hironori Tanaka
1:51 ~ end: Takuji Miyamoto

Black flash punch is Hironori Tanaka genga and most of the other cuts are just his layout, barring the first few cuts. Unsure if there’s another animator here but I’d bet its just the two of them. Unclear exactly on what cut TNK ends on because he didn't do much genga.
How they portrayed and showed boogie woogie in season 2 was much better
no impact frames, maybe one or two times, but just using a blur effect on that character and showing the curse technique vfx is good enough

Man, I can't stress enough how much of an upgrade S2 was. At first, I thought it was servicable but looking back, the compositing was just not it.
