That's what I thought, and had tagged it that way originally. But I went back and checked the Anipages guide that tipped me off to these episodes and he identified the Kenichi Shimizu at Curtain in the early 90s with having done Parasyte more recently. Maybe he did not know that there were two of them. Given that these presumeds are (mostly) his I figured I should just go with it in this case. Do we know if the Madhouse one was at Curtain with Hiramatsu in the early 90s?

I've tried looking for 清水健一 douga credits to get an idea of when they might have started, respectively, but the few that I could find are all from the late '80s. Considering how poorly archived douga credits usually are, especially as we go backwards in time, and the fact that its possible to be a key animator without having ever done douga at all, I don't think this is enough to say they're both around the same age. The impression I had is that Madhouses' Kenichi Shimizu is quite a bit younger but I will try to look into it and report back.

Well Chang has mentioned that the other one was at Comet, hence the High School Kimengumi cut credit. What I have seen is that in 92 there is a Shimizu credited on a Comet produced show:Tsuyoshi Shikkari Shinasai, while there is also a Shimizu at Curtain working on Yadamon and Dragonslayer, and shows up on Curtain's Twinbee OVA from the next year, where Comet has a Shimizu on the Art of Fighting anime that year. I don't see these two studios interacting on a project anywhere so far. Of course this isn't definitive, maybe the other Shimizu was working with both at the time, but it seems like a decent point of assumed differentiation. Given that there is a gengaman Shimizu on Ranpou back in 84, and a dougaman Shimizu on KOR in 87 I suspect that your attribution of one as "older" is correct, though maybe not as much as you thought? Or maybe there are three? Thanks for the help!

"Kenichi Shimizu" at studio Comet (ex‐Tsuchida production) and "Kenichi Shimizu" at スタジオかあたん are different people.
They have the same name.

In the conversation he mentions " in the katan days" as far as I can tell, so it looks like the Madhouse Shimizu and this Curtain Shimizu are the same person.
