The explosions look good, but what the point of this op?

Maybe not spoiling the entire arc unlike the previous one?

I second that, especially looking at how many twists and reveals are in these upcoming arcs more than any others. Tho I hope they'll actually do a v2 or something because this could get boring to look at real quick (or maybe different EDs like Hayashi did in Dorohedoro.)

Edit: Having re-watched the episode, the OP actually really grew on me especially the song, and the war symbolism is here aswell. This is definitely an artistic choice if anything, and knowing what some people said, plus it having been done in-house: new more interesting visuals are DEFINITLY gonna slowly get added in as things get reveled. So cheer-up everyone, this is only the first episode afterall...
Virgin Linked Horizon mindless titan action vs Chad Shinsei Kamattechan war metaphor

are you actually serious the trailer already did that LOL it's just that the schedule is a disaster
its kinda hard to see the lines with all the composite editing stuff happening but nice effects cuts,,,
Apparently, more will be added to the opening as the episodes go on
So we'll see. But damn this is quite the discussion under a booru post

Artistic choice? I don’t buy this argument, the hayashi was only needed in who he could cast for the OP team, this opening spills Effects animation, with satoshi sakai being credited and likely taichi furumata is also in the key animation of the scene, BOTH TWO big names team's.

What the heck are you talking about? Are you just trying to start something here newbie. You completely seem to have missed my point... Unless you doubt the symbolism, which then you're just blind af, because if you're caught up to the manga the lyrics of My War are enough of a hint to the rest of the story at that, and the war symbolism with brain-washed soldiers and dead catchers are as Marley as it gets, even a little founder titan spine there in the effect animation at 0:05 (maybe you didn't catch that lol).
Or maybe you don't think something is an artistic choice... From the literal series director given to Sakai-san, then I don't know what to say to you.

Also, if you're referring to new cuts being added in, one of the Chinese animators said it on Weibo so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

First that I never said that have no symbolism, so that you can understand imagine the following:
Hayashi: what to do for the opening with little time I have? with a song that only talks about war in the lyric, and without many resources (Animators).
hayashi: I'm going to mix the symbolism of crows with war themes, like deaths, soldiers, and I will put a lot of explosions, since we have very good effects animators.
that is, he applied the mappa method of production: applying the easiest way to solve the problem faster. this is what I wanted to say. Attention I am not saying that this method is wrong.

And by the way that vetrebra column (at 0:05) is just any column.

I don't think the OP is a product of the terrible schedule, else they would've just outsourced it or a similar solution. I think this is a more genuinely artistic choice, but whether you personally like it or not is a different story.
It isn’t outsourced it is in-house.
so no one is gonna talk about how well animated this is?

AND that's what I meant mate... That's why I said you missed my point, because you did. Solving problems quickly while still being very effective and creative in your acts, so it is an artistic choice, stop bullshitting.. Just because the production is troubled doesn't mean it isn't an artistic choice, what kind of logic is that? It only means it was done with practicality in-mind aswell. Like isn't that Hayashi in a nutshell, even in good productions his artistic and practical/efficient choices intertwine, Dorohedoro is literally a by-product of that way of thinking, which it isn't a bad thing.

I also said it was an "artistic choice" because Hayashi obviously made it with wanting to do some changes in-mind after future climax episodes when big spoilers are nought. (Also the song isn't just "war symbolism", it has lyrics referencing to specific chapters and characters, like "children cling onto their very last coins" is literal a perfect description to a certain scene in Ch 131, not even symbolism, just straight up.)

Also no, vetrebra columns are always a very known symbolism in the manga to the founder and... Ok I'm not gonna be spoiling here, if you know, you know...

Done.

Of course, it's all good fam. This is simply just Sakugabooru tho, most people here are pretty chill, at least the more active members. Gotta love them niche animation fandoms lol, what a bless :)

We are all here because we are passionate about animation afterall, we are all friends in a way. (I'm sounding so Shounen-like right now xD)
