Can anyone please explain exactly what this shows? (eg. The letters, numbers and kanji in boxes)

The kanji in boxes are just characters' names.
A(1) - F(1) are animation layer number, characters are likely to be drawn on separated layers(in this case, Layer A to Layer F). Since this may be the very first drawing of one shot, every layer begins with 1 and that makes sense.
