The show was hated because it's another title of reboots CN has done that transformed a narrative-focused show that was canceled prematurely into a comedy with an art style analogous with Teen Titans Go, a show that has the same issues that I just mentioned with Thundercats Roar.
If we're talking purely on an animation standpoint, it's serviceable with some nice cuts every now and then. That said, the sentiment of the shows other qualities didn't and still don't sit well with fans of Thundercats, especially of the 2011 reboot.
