In comes Naotoshi and the squad.
Shida's work never fails to get me hyped up.
Ah yes, the patented "Naotoshi Shida head bang" at :20 seconds. A classic.
We should create a "Shida head bang" tag for the Booru jajajaja.
Or maybe "Shida flops" tag
Lovely work.
Garurumon's running was kinda stiff or maybe not timed well
tbh, shida's main attraction is his art/shading (ironically not this cut) and doing his style of camera movement
he is pretty cool and suited for transformation scenes
so it was pretty awesome that they let him handle luffy gear 4 transformation and let the truly talented animators(mori and watanabe) at the art of detailed movement handle the fighting animation
same was done for sanji last fight
so if you took him out of his comfort zone, you will notice how much he will struggle, like this scene

so he is good at using his limited strength to bring up pretty cool and attractive scenes, which in itself is a success

so having cool looking art and style) and handling key moments for popular shows ,namely onepiece,is the reason for his popularity, not his actuall animation skills

what are you saying? this scene is just incredible, the movements and the consistence are perfect, not to mention the smoothness, this scene isn't very interesting by itself but shida still made it look better, btw, I think that toei should give more action scenes (not just climax) for shida because this is one of his strenghts. Finally, that's my opinion and I respect yours

thanks man ,respect yours too
I love Naotoshi's work BUT I always disliked how accelerated his scenes turn out, like if someone turned the dial to 1.50x; I know it's a stylistic choice but I wish they added more frames to really take in on what's happening
