The drawings really don't look like him either, even if the timing and repeating frames are there

Shida only did some storyboard work for this movie. Yuya Takahashi admire him and adapted a similar style and he was an AD in the movie so i think he probably corrected some of this especially the very begining and that's why you think it's Shida because the timing in the first smoker attack is similar due to Takahashi "imitation" of Shida style.
