That cut of him walking through the fire is insane.
The direction for this scene is phenomenal
The walk is definitely the highlight for me here
something of the utmost level as usual
my personal best

-I hope we get the chance to see more from him in the future

damn,dat curtain animation
This might be one of my favourite cuts of all time, oh my god
So this is where all the money from the first movie went... That's gorgeous

Money has nothing to do with it, rather talent is what made this one more special as Kazuto Arai brought all of his friends to make an animation spectacle

See: Mob S2 5 & 11, Apocrypha 22, Babylonia 18 for examples of other work by this crew
Really love seeing onsen's character designs actually coming through unlike camelot 1. Also, jesus christ, the facial movement when lancelot's talking

All of it is insane. Even the subtle movement of him walking to the deconstruction of the building.
Of course the fire is still amazing aswell. It's all so good!
WTF, how is he so good at everything?!?!?
You can always tell when Zhang shows up. So insane. One of the few current animators that could probably be in Fantasia if they ever do another one.
Does anyone know how many key frames Zhang makes? His stuff always looks like 60 to me even though im sure its not. Like I know Shida does 24 fps in ones but Zhang's work is so smooth I can't believe it's the same.

Common question. A lot of eastern animators and webgens (like zhang) do not animate at a consistent framerate. One second of animation may contain 14 frames, and the next only 8. This is both more economic, and often more artistically engaging than a more standard style of timing. Having certain drawing last for longer than others can really help to sell the weight of a distinct movement. Zhang uses this same style, but has a pentient for doing more work than he has to to make the sequence shine, usually sticking to more than 12 drawings per second. you can see how long zhang makes his drawings last individually by using the <1F and 1F> buttons at the bottom of the video player.
I suspect that this is 3DCG rotoscoped, but GORGEOUS NONETHELESS.

It's clearly not

Not CG or rotoscoped. Just the living legend Weilin Zhang (btw nice Bahi JD meme tho)
Zhang has got to be (In my opinion) one of the best new-gen animators. Every New-Gen is just as great as the next like Bahi JD and Gem but, Zhang is just so goddamn versatile. This man can do it all.
