Super Crazy Layout.
By the by, according to what Mamoru Oshii says in his excellent book "methods from LAYOUTS of INOCENCE", it takes total of 10 weeks(including four weeks to retake) to finish this cut, then Emura ended up being hospitalized.
Everything in this cut is fascinating
Each one of the characters that are running have a very strong sense of weight, the hair reacts according to their movement, the animation of the fabric and the lighting generate so much volume. The perspective is quite interesting too
Kazuchika Kise just dropped the info that this cut was done by Okiura (mb it was a rework).
He also added "You shouldn't rely on Oshii-san's memory", lol.

そーだったのかな?ボートハウスでしたっけ、この辺りは全部沖浦の絵だったので(描き直してた?かもですけど)
あと押井さんの記憶はあてにしちゃダメですよ

This is actually a strange thing, because Oshii talked about Emura and this cut not only in Methods. He and Mizuho Nishikubo also discussed this scene in the movie's audio commentary.

It's hard to know who to believe. Anyway, Kise was the animation supervisor. I think he was the closest to the animation production of the three. Besides, it's hard to deny that Okiura's style really shines through here.

My version of what happened: Emura was the original animator for this scene and spent 6 weeks on it. After that, Okiura completely redrew it (in 4 weeks?).

The story about Emura being hospitalized is probably true, but Oshii simply didn't know that Okiura's version was being used in the movie.
