why does isuta makes such great cuts and then also normal cuts which are not that good
The anime industry is a pretty complicated sphere of circumstances which might lead artists to underperform or even have their work compromised for reasons that are out of their control (rough 2nd KA, compositing, bad AD work, etc). Isuta really has too many works to give an in detail answer but a lot of the productions he's lent his talents to often have some rough circumstances out of his control that might lead to rougher work, Black Clover in particular really had a rough run. I'd say though considering the production circumstances of shows like BC he still manages to stand out and do great work even among the rougher patches.

Truly well said. It is the community's short attention span and the Japanese work culture that make the worse combination for talent to not show. It will break my heart sometimes when a great L.O. like post #163492 didn't even make it to coloring or got cut out because there wasn't even space to fit in. But that is why people should give director's cut of anime more importance as they can help a little to show the talent than budge things in airing slot.

the gist of your comment is correct I guess but with all due respect that is not a great or even good LO. The consistency in the character model is weak, almost every other frame is wildly departed from the one before. I would expect a worthwhile sakkan or enshutsu to have that retaken regardless of the schedule.

It's been a year since this one since you can't really see booru quotes in any message tabs, was going through some old cuts and found this reply. but hey i still would have loved to see expressions like that. but you are right as i go through it again, the inconsistency is visible. it would have taken a lot of correction for mha standards.

Even so, the LO seemed be more worthwhile than the end result.

The problem is that your (and many other sakuga fans) sense of worth is from the perspective of a booru watcher and movement enjoyer.

Instead, looking at it from the other side: being a member of a team work environment like this is understanding the surrounding production circumstances. It's cool and all to be flashy and fun, but if the production is physically incapable of accommodating it (which MHA was at that time), or if the director has a different vision, it ends up being more trouble than its worth. This LO did not understand the assignment and was retaken accordingly, it absolutely should have been. Said another way, a LO that is both this rough and ambitious at the same time can only really work with a lot of prior communication with the team, and especially only if there was time for Vincent to do most of his own genga. Neither were possible/occurred here so the result speaks for itself.

Yeah, that does make sense. Consistent and solid animation is difficult to maintain throughout a 20+ minute episode. Realizing it now, the LO was way too ambitious for the amount they had. Seemed my personal enjoyment kind of undermined that.
I think this is Isuta's best cut to this day
