I like the expression on Yamamuro's, but Shida overall was way better

If Yamamuro's is the right one, than it's far better than Shida's, in my opinion.
The lines are way more solid, firm, clean, and the shadows seems more 3D-ish.

Yamamuro's is better is all regards aside from the expression because for some reason he's allergic to anything resembling exaggeration.

Shida did a better part on the expression , Yamumuro did better on the clothing

For me, Dragon Ball is all about bold, solid, consistent lines.
And particularly, is about the illusion of tri-dimensionality - especially in the general shapes and the shading (despite its cartoony and distorted style).
Although Shida's [left] expression is more exagerated here (and I have to say that this is not necessarily always good), Yamamuro's [right] definitely delivers the characteristics above in a higher level

The expression on the right is nice but if you tilt your head to be in-line with Gohan's you see why the correction was needed. Gohan's head was a bit narrow.
