I love how the second cut looks without the crazy Ufotable digital effects tbh. Good animation

Agree, it sort of has that 80-90's feel, looks fantastic. I don't know why they would fiddle with the water? Still, the sakuga is good regardless.

I'm with you there. Not sure if that makes us "old people", but I'd like to see a bit more balance when tossing in relatively disjointed particle effects and glowing fkery.
Why are these all also tagged with Unlimited Blade Works? I don't see anything from that adaptation or the route..
This fight was one of the best parts in the movie. I love how gae bolg reflects off lancers armor and how the clothing absorbs the light. So cool to see ufotable add these little details into their scenes. They really know how to use their digital effects to add a whole new dimension to the scene and anime in general.

same, i'm starting to get sick of the amount of fx on modern works

Was that fight really the best part of the movie? Don't spoil it(yet) but were there any more decent animated moments you can recall?
This is not the only good fight in the movie. It's actually one of the most silly fights in the whole thing as far as coherency and choreography goes, and there are a number of more grounded action scenes that I think are more satisfying and rely less on camera work and big CG set-pieces.
The studio is proud of this one on a technical level, for obvious reasons, but the entire film looks quite good.

The other fights are awesome too and extremely well done, (animation, visuals, etc) . There's actually a decent amount of other fights too. You have a lot to look forward to in the movie. But I do think this was the highlight fight, At least My favorite in the movie.
