that run looks nearly identical to https://sakugabooru.com/post/show/40126
If you're talking about that run at 0:06-0:09 That is definitely the same animation. I'd really like to know why there's there's bank animation in the 2nd episode. I know it's confirmed to be 51 episodes but come on, it feels like the producers aren't even trying to make this show look good.

I think it's more of a callback to show Asta's character as a constant in Yuno's life, not primarily as a cost-saving measure (although it accomplishes that as well). I think that saying these first three episodes look "bad" is just a lie. Considering that our previous standard for these year-long Pierrot productions was Sousei no Onmyouji, I'm welcoming these new animators, even if the show that they're attached to is utter trash.

What drives me nuts is the fact that they don't seem to care about the pacing, I heard that the source material actually gets way better. But at the rate the anime is going, it seems that the audience will just be driven away. Why can't they properly adapt this like Studio Bones did with My Hero Academia? That show is proof that you don't need long running anime anymore, the fandom has grown exponentially since the 2nd season ended. And not to mention that it was quality in terms of art, animation and pacing. I know that Shueisha decides whether to drag a show out or not, but why do they keep doing this with Studio Pierrot? Can't these publishers not have faith in their works? Do they not realize that quality is better than quantity? It's all about the money and it's so sad.

I agree with you on all points except the manga getting better. I read for 80 chapters before dropping it and it had a little spike in quality when Asta joins his guild, which we'll probably get to in episode 4 or 5, and then flatlined for the rest of the time. I'm honestly impressed that it's managed to stay in serialization this long.
first two cuts are Yoshihara's layout animation https://twitter.com/o_ihs_oy/status/1128688920785326080?s=09

3rd cut is probably also him

4th and 5th cuts are Kawakami's 1st KA from post #40126 finished differently.
