The 2d characters are paired so well with the 3d backgrounds
CSM might be one of the very few anime that actually are movie level, I know anime fans drop that word for everything but imo "some episodes" of this show deserve it
Those skull impact frames are so cool!!

The curse materializing looks rlly good too. Love it
Didn't even realise the skull impact frames till now, incredible! The entire Curse Devil sequence after was so surreal too, I love these touches of experimentation a lot
I'm not a professional at all but i love how Fujimoto can make it seem almost real, the other animation styles in anime use stylized art styles and smear and all that, but this anime along with some of the other works MAPPA has done has some use of the no smear and awesome use of the panning too. I also notice the warm lighting and blurs in the opening too (especially in ending 8), that is skill and experience right there man, and if not that its pure creativity. I love this anime's animation so much, it all feels like a movie! The staff should and probably are proud of their great work!

I completely feel this. Honestly it makes me feel worse for the staff/director on how people are hyper-critical of his more cinematic approach and its cuts like this that make me double down on my stance that I want to see Nakayama's vision complete from start to finish. There's so many examples of "great animation" that's hyper-kinetic and flashy that it makes this form of animation so much more unique and awesome to see for a shounen. Legit does feel like every week it's a movie. I will be so gutted if Mappa can't keep this consistency for the rest of the adaptation or if they switch directors just because vocal minorities can't appreciate Nakayama's approach.
Good animation but bad action board

How’s it a bad action board?
