One of the greatest animators in the world Imo. Honestly such a blessing to watch this mans work! One of my favorite cuts from nakamura
Some of his best work by far, i love how he's still experimenting and levelling up to this day
Really great scene ! I love how it was obvious how he use the same style and same movements whith the characters sliding slowly on a smooth background animation, with cool lights and all, but this really feels new anyway ! His use of color is always cool, and I especially love his timings, how he jumps between kind of slow and utra fast action.
We tend to be so mindblown by his action animation, that we miss something else that is just as incredible.

Please, look at the depth he manage to put on the human anatomy, his mastery on the shading on top of his drawing, add so much on making the character alive ... Pay close attention on the close up on the faces/body/arm.
It's so godamn CLEAN ... Crazy

Yeah I noticed that too, while the effects and background animation are peak yutapon, the way the characters move through the scene feels a bit like Norimitsu Suzuki which is super cool
Surprise Nakamura cuts will never get old. I'll never get tired of seeing him on a show, regardless of where it is
He's just the GOAT, I had a big smile watching this

For me he is the greatest
This had a mix of everything, speed, action, effects, character acting. He’s literally a genius, it looks like there’s actually a dolly cam that’s following these people. I’ve watched this so many times and I’ve been excited all week waiting for his cut. One of my favorites from him for sure
Am I the only one who got confused at various moments? I feel like the Rising cut energy started leaking a bit too much.

There's really not that much to keep track of here, he's just going fast in various directions.
Either way, though, I think this scene is exceptionally readable.

For the most part this cut is pretty readable for me, although i will say that the perspective of the first cut kinda confused me at first. Was i the only one who thought that the first cut was a shot of a large mountain or glacier, or was i just being stupid?
Jesus christ this is amazing!
nakamura's cuts are always one of a kind
they just grap all of your attention and make you breathless

the best of all time
I wonder if he referenced speed skaters for that one cut of iida sliding. Bakugou's big jump 2 seasons ago also reminded me of ski jumpers so I wonder if Yutapon is fond of referencing winter sports ahaha
Can we just appreciate Yutapon getting to do a unique and niche sequence once again. It is cool to see a legendary animator being given climax cuts left and right to work on, but after many of them it just becomes quite samey and whatever... Honestly since I saw it in the PV I was happy knowing that this specific Iida cut was being done by him.

(Tho I do think they shouldn't have showed it in the PV, they could have kept it as a surprise instead).
The sense of space in that scene is very big, it's evident the difference from past episodes (because it's a scene of his), and with the black background in his scene it's as if Nakamura conjured up his own 'Domain Expansion', spacing + maximum use of Follow Through, lots of Yutapon&Ufo spots in 0:12 and his pointed lines. Something like Self-personification of Action/アクションの自己擬人化. (Yutapon Version)
at first I thought there were no impact frames
but at 00:31 cut 762 and 763
there are colourful impact frames
is that a new thing ?

Reminds me a bit of his cut from the final episode of ConRevo https://www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/34800

I've seen them at least in his Heroes Rising cut, but they can probably be found elsewhere as well.
yeah.my bad
I actuallu knew the ConRevo one so well but for some reason it didn't stuck
Wanted to post this yesterday but forgot

Yutaka conveys Iida's speed so beautifully. Not only the motion and framing, but the storyboarding itself sells the movement. In the beginning it looks like the exhausts are bigger than mountains. The darkness in several of the cuts makes it look like Iida's going FTL. Heck, in one of the earlier cuts he straight up breaks the sound barrier.
the part from 00:22 to 00:26
has that after image
any idea is this censorship or due to difference in frame rates ?

i think that's just ghosting it will be removed in the BD
After the addition of the new player going frame by frame really shows how amazing this scene looks

I know right? I feel like it’s rare to see an animator this established and well known (although there aren’t many as famous as Nakamura) define their style so definitively while still constantly marking innovations and improving upon their already incredible work. I can’t wait to see how he will blow our minds next time

There are many like Nakamura, in established fame, although his fame is different because of the anime he works on, which are of a much more popular niche. You need to meet more animators...
