What fps was akira animated in?
Pretty sure that the whole thing is done on 1s, so 24 frames per second. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't know a ton about this movie
Most of it was animated on 1s, not all tho

A solid amount of it, wouldn't go as far as to saying most though. Just going through clips on this site will already show you that there's as much stuff on 2s, and a solid amount on 3s as well, as some movement is just better represented on lower frame rates. I recommend the 'Sakuga Extended' extension for your browser which allows you to go through clips frame by frame.

This post has been resubmitted to the sakugabooru, so the number of seconds specified has changed from the previous post.
Lately I've seen a lot of people claiming that Akira is the only Japanese movie fully animated in 1s, does anyone know where that myth came from?

I guess it's easy to see that Akira is mostly animated in 2s, having cuts in 1s, 3s and I think even a couple of cuts in 4s.
It also has some mixtures that I would not know how to catalog because the number of drawings is not constant, many times when the characters speak and move
Chiharu Sato Assistance on:
  • 0:00 - 0:01
  • 0:04 - 0:11
  • 0:13 - 0:17
Hitoshi Ueda:
  • 0:00 - 0:17
From “AKIRA PRODUCTION REPORT:全リテイクシーン&原画マン詳解”.
Too sleepy to go any further for now.

I agree, this shot is easily as iconic as the Kanada Dragon, Itano Circus or Obari Punch. We could call it "Ueda Slide"
