I know Miyazaki has a reputation for maintaining strict corrections over his films, limiting some idiosyncrasies of the animators. But after seeing this film on the big screen today I was really surprised by how obvious Ohira's style is in his cuts. Compare how Chihiro is drawn in the previous shots by Misuzu Kurata to this. It's gotta be some of Ohira's best character acting.
