I can't believe that this movie had a cost of 11 millions of dollars. It looks so huge and very well animated.

Ghost in the shell 2, Tarzan and Treasure Planet had perspective problems and looked very small comparatively to Metropolis. No wonder James Cameron was so impressed with it that he went to Japan to recruit Japanese animators for digital domain.
Wasn't he working on a Battle Angel Alita remake? I heard that he temporarily pushed it away so that he could focus on Avatar.

I think he'll nail it, CG has gotten way better over the years. The Fight Club opening still looks surprisingly modern.

Looks like whatever Cameron was planning never happened.
What happened was that the japanese animators didn't care about Hollywood at all and the fact that they would need to move to another country was a big reason to say no.

But he knew japanese animators were very talented and you know how picky that guy is, also he lost Digital Domain after his divorce with Linda Hamilton.

With the power of hindsight, we now know that, yes, the CG does look good in every aspect except for her disgusting eyes
Yes, Alita's eyes are absolutely horrid, but the animation here is beautiful, so whatever.
