had like low expectations coming into this because doga koba was doing it, and they somehow not only managed to meet my expectations, exceed it, by overdeliver sohard. really hope the next few eps can keep up the quality, at least partly. Though episode 2 has been pretty nice sofar getting some hope
Not sure what's the logic of "Doga Kobo = low expectations" here. They have proven to be more than capable enough of delivering incredibly work like this, and specially with this team.

I guess mostly cause they're not really known for their over the topness or just in general being super good like this! I mean I came in barely knowing the studio~ Only knowing them for like Shikimori and the such, but they weren't really the bestest ever you know. The team so far though has done amazing though, I'm super happy! Kappe's such a great character designer
Bill Tytla's memorable reuniting of mother and son: after their long trunk caress, a lesser animator would go straight to Dumbo breaking down into tears. Tytla's choice to show us Dumbo's elation first, then have the tears well up, is brilliance.

The missing 15s is because those 15 secs are completely pedestrian, nothing of interest happening, literally just mid animation of her getting up and looking back.
